Woman alleges rape by 40 men in Haryana

A 22 years-old woman from Chandigarh has alleged sexual assault by at least 40 men over four days in the Morni  Hill area of Haryana’s Panchkula district.

The Haryana police have constituted a SIT headed by IPS officer Anshu Singla to investigate the case .Theree personnel including the Morni ASI a constable and an ASI of the All Woman police station ( Panchkula ) have been suspended.

Panchkula Deputy  Commissioner of police Rajendra Kumar Meena said that three accused had so far been arrested and an investigation is underway.”We are examining the CCTV footage. The case is being transferred to the Panchkula police from Chandigarh ” he said.


The woman in her complaint lodged with Chandigarh Manimajra police station said she was held captive at a guest house in Kaimbawala village and was raped by at least 40 men from July 15 to 18.


Ranjit Singh SHO Manimajra police station said that one of the accused who was known to the victim and her husband had taken the woman to the guest house on the pretext of giving her a job.


The victims’ husband said:”she somehow managed to escape on Thursday recounted the ordeal to the family and then approached the police.”
