Congress president Rahul Gandhi today launched another attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the recent incident of mob lynching in Rajasthan’s Alwar.
Questioning the manhandling by cops in the case, Rahul in a tweet asked why the police took three hours to take the victim Rakbar Khan to a hospital which is just 6km away.
“This is Modi’s brutal “New India” where humanity is replaced with hatred and people are crushed and left to die,” he said.
Rakbar, 29, was lynched by a mob of cow vigilantes on July 21 in Rajasthan’s Alwar. According to various reports, Rakbar was allegedly beaten up by the cops before taking to the hospital. Some reports also claim that the police took three hours to take him to the hospital. An investigation has been initiated in the matter.
Meanwhile, in a bizarre statement, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Saturday had linked the cases of mob lynchings to PM Modi’s popularity. “As Modiji becomes more popular, such incidents will take place. Modiji is making difference at the ground level, this is a reaction,” he had said.
Another BJP MLA from Telangana, T Raja Singh, also defended the government and said: “these lynching cases won’t stop until cow slaughtering stops”.
