Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao announced a cash prize of Rs 1 crore for Indian Women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj and a house plot of 600 square yards in the posh Banjara Hills area on her arrival in her hometown Hyderabad on Friday.
After a phenomenal performance by Indian Women’s cricket team in the World Cup in England, captain Mithali Raj arrived to a rousing welcome in her hometown Hyderabad on Friday evening.
After playing exceptionally throughout the tournament, India went down by 9 runs in the final against the hosts at Lord’s on July 23.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao felicitated Mithali Raj and her coach RSR Murthy with a shawl at the CM Camp office. The chief minister also announced a cash prize of Rs 1 crore for Raj and said that a house plot of 600 square yards would be given to her in the posh Banjara Hills area of the city.

He also congratulated Raj for breaking the record for most runs in international cricket and being the first player in women’s cricket to score 6,000 runs. The chief minister also praised the entire team for making it to the final.
“Your team performed very well and the whole nation watched your performances. And so did I. You are a wonderful talent. You are the pride of Telangana and Hyderabad city. You should win many more matches in the future. On behalf of the people of Telangana state, I congratulate you. The government will stand by you”, KCR told Mithali Raj.
Her parents Sri Dorai Raj and Ms Leela Raj were also present during the felicitation event.
