Taking a cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious “Beti, Bachao, Beti Padhao” programme, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav will embark on a 100-km cycle rally themed “NDA Bhagao, Beti Bachao” beginning from Bodh Gaya to Patna on Saturday.
The march is to protest the rampant incidents of rapes in Bihar.
Tejashwi Yadav said that in his three-day cycle rally, he will expose the failures of the Nitish Kumar government, especially in relation to a worsening law and order situation in Bihar.
“Anarchy and rapes in Bihar, open your eyes Uncle Nitish Kumar,” Tejashwi said in a tweet.
The prime focus of the cycle rally, however, will be on the Muzaffarpur rape case where 29 girls at shelter home were allegedly raped. Tejashwi has alleged that several bureaucrats and politicians are involved in the rape case that has rattled Bihar.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal leader claimed that it was his pressure which compelled Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to hand over the probe of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
“Just a few hours back, Nitish was reluctant to hand over the investigation in the Muzaffarpur incident to the CBI but soon after I visited ground zero, he took a U-turn and handed over the probe to CBI,” Tejashwi said.
He will also raise other issues in the rally such as special status not being granted to Bihar despite a double-engine government at the Centre and the state.
