Sad news for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma fans. Television actor Kavi Kumar Azad, popularly known for his role of Dr Hansraj Haathi, passed away Monday afternoon.
According to SpotboyE, he was unwell from last few days and was admitted to Wokhardt Hospital at Mira Road. He slipped into coma last night and suffered a heart attack.
His co-stars are in deep shock and the shoot of the show has been cancelled.
Show’s creator Asit Kumarr Modi said in a statement, to IANS “We are very sad to inform the loss of our senior actor Kavi Kumar Azad. He was playing the character of Dr Hathi in ‘Taarak Mehta…’. We lost him to a massive cardiac arrest today morning. He was an amazing actor and a very positive person. He truly loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was not feeling well. He called today morning saying that he is not well and will not be able to come for shoot. And later we got the news that he passed away. We are all too numb to say anything.”
The show is based on the column Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma written by journalist Taarak Mehta for a Gujarati magazine. And just few days back, the whole team had celebrated completion of 2500 episodes.
Taarak Mehta is also the longest running Indian sitcom and has entered the Limca Book of World Records for its feat.
