NAINITAL: Uttarakhand high court on Monday sought reply from the state government over bail application of DP Singh, former land acquisition officer and an accused in Rs 300 crore NH-74 land acquisition and compensation scam. The state government has been asked to submit a reply within three weeks
Singh surrendered in Udham Singh Nagar in November last year and, at present, in jail since then.
On November 3, a special leave petition filed by Singh, former special land acquisition officer of Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar, was rejected by the Supreme Court.
He had also sought a stay on his arrest from the high court, but the court vacated the stay order on October 28. Following which a lookout notice was issued against him. Suspecting that the former state official may file a special leave petition, the special investigation team (SIT) looking into the case filed a caveat to counter Singh’s plea.
