A poacher who had been on the run for the past three years was arrested by a team of forest officials and policemen late on Sunday evening from his village Mainakot under Madhotanda police station in the district.
Deputy range officer of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve’s Mahof forest range Mobin Arif, who led the team, said Ram Kishan alias Ram Kushan was absconding since March 2015 after he was booked along with eight of his accomplices by a joint team of special task force (STF) and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) for poaching.
At that time, the joint team had seized one tiger hide and 8 kg of tiger bones, which Ram Kishan had sold to another man for selling in the international market.
While eight of the poachers were arrested, Ram Kishan managed to slip away.
Finally, on getting a tip-off that he was at village Mainakot, a special team nabbed him just as he was about to flee to Nepal.
