Poacher on run for 3 yrs caught in Pilibhit

A poacher who had been on the run for the past three years was arrested by a team of forest officials and policemen late on Sunday evening from his village Mainakot under Madhotanda police station in the district.

Deputy range officer of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve’s Mahof forest range Mobin Arif, who led the team, said Ram Kishan alias Ram Kushan was absconding since March 2015 after he was booked along with eight of his accomplices by a joint team of special task force (STF) and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) for poaching.

At that time, the joint team had seized one tiger hide and 8 kg of tiger bones, which Ram Kishan had sold to another man for selling in the international market.

While eight of the poachers were arrested, Ram Kishan managed to slip away.

The poacher fled to Nepal. He returned to the country a few weeks ago for a contract of paddy transplantation in Khatima city Uttarakhand’s Udhamsingh Nagar district.
“After getting this information from our counterparts in Uttarakhand, we immediately coordinated with the sub divisional officer of forest in Khatima, Babu Lal, to trap Ram Kishan but he again escaped,” said Arif.

Finally, on getting a tip-off that he was at village Mainakot, a special team nabbed him just as he was about to flee to Nepal.
