No foreign leaders will be invited for Imran Khan’s oath taking ceremony as Pakistan’s next PM. A report in a Pakistan daily said that Imran Khan has opted out of inviting foreign dignitaries and celebrities.
“The PTI chairman has directed to stage the oath-taking event with austerity. He will take his oath in a simple ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr (President House). It has been decided that no foreign personalities will be invited to the ceremony – it will be a completely national event,” Dawn quoted PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry as saying.
Fawad Chaudhry also added that only a few close friends of Imran Khan will be invited.
There are reports that Indian celebrities like Aamir Khan, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Navjot Singh Sidhu will be invited for the event.
This morning, Aamir Khan said he would not go to Pakistan as he didn’t get any invite.
Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) won 115 seats during Pakistan general election, emerging as the single-largest party. Imran Khan will likely take oath on August 11.
Earlier, there were reports that Imran would invite SAARC leaders including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his oath ceremony.
