Bishop Franco Mulakkal, a Catholic priest accused of repeatedly raping a nun from Kerala between 2014 and 2016, will be interrogated today at the Thripunithura crime branch office in Ernakulam.
Yesterday, Mulakkal filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Kerala High Court. He claimed the allegations levelled against him were “wholly concocted and cooked up only to wreak vengeance for the actions taken by him on various complaints received against her [the victim]”, PTI reported.

The petition said Bishop Mulakkal had been “falsely implicated” and described the complaint against him as a “vicious programme” to bring him down.
The court adjourned the hearing to September 25 — next Tuesday — when it will hear the police version, the PTI report said.
Mulakkal has temporarily stepped down from the post he held in the Diocese of Jalandhar (in Punjab), and said another priest, Mathew Kokkandam, will fill in for him.
Meanwhile, a group of nuns of the Missionaries of Jesus Congregation — and their supporters — have been protesting, and demanding Mulakkal’s arrest.
