High-level sources have told India Today that there has been no official communication between India and Pakistan on the construction of the Kartarpur Corridor as of now. Any exchanges on implementation of the corridor plan are yet to happen, is what we’ve learnt. Until any such communication, India will develop the corridor on its side.
Sources have told India Today that the blueprint for Kartarpur Corridor was to be discussed at the proposed New York meeting between Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in September but that meeting did not take place after the killing of Indian soldiers by Pakistan along the border.
Sources have added the governments will in future discuss the issue and the option they are currently looking at is to discuss modalities through their respective embassies in Delhi and Islamabad. There will be no formal talks.
