Karnataka Congress asks Sitharaman not to change Aero India 2019’s venue

Karnaatka Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao  on Tuesday wrote a letter to the defence minister requesting her to not move the Aero Show 2019 from Bengaluru to Lucknow as per reports.

Rao also said that Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is a Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka and should protect the interests of the state.

In the letter he mentioned, “Reports of Aero India moving out of state comes as a shock to me, as we have successfully hosted the show for over two decades. We have the capability to host and also take great pride in the fact that we have been granted the opportunity to display our nation’s might in the skies. The show also provides much-needed employment, draws crowds from all over the world and brings in crucial investment into Bengaluru, which is the aviation hub of the country.”

Earlier, Sitharaman had said that many states are interested in hosting mega events. She also gave an example of how Defence Expo was moved from Delhi to Goa to Tamil Nadu. “The actual time and venue of Aero India 2019 will be announced officially in due time,” said Defence Minister.

criticised Sitharaman and said that it was Karnataka’s MLAs that elected her as a Rajya Sabha member and hence, she should protect the interests of the state.
