India captain Virat Kohli once again reflected on how his wife Anushka Sharma has helped him grow as a person.
Kohli and Anushka are celebrating their first wedding anniversary today. They both got married in an intimate ceremony on 11 December last year in Tuscany, Italy.
Kohli has time and again stated how his life has changed for the good since he met Anushka.
“Since the time I met my wife, is the time I started changing a lot. I came from a very typical background from North India. I did not have any idea about what happens in any other sphere of the society or anyone else’s life.
“Her life was very different, came with her own challenges and her own perspective of things and it was amazing to see myself… how much different things are to the way I think. I was not a very practical person before that.
“But she’s changed me a lot and I’ve learnt so much from her. You’re supposed to help each other grow and she’s helped me grow a lot,” Kohli told Adam Gilchrist in an interview for Fox Sports.
India took a 1-0 lead for the first time in a Test series in Australia on Monday after beating the home side by 31 runs in the first Test in Adelaide.
Chasing 323 for victory, Australia got bowled out for 291 in their second innings with Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin and Mohammed Shami finishing with 3 wickets each while Ishant Sharma picked up a wicket.
With the famous victory in Adelaide, Kohli became the first Asian captain to win Tests in Australia, South Africa, and England.
India had won the Johannesburg Test against the Proteas in January this year following which they defeated England in the fourth Test of a five-match series at Southampton later in August-September.
India also became the first team to win a Test match in Australia, England and South Africa in the same calendar year. Exactly 10 years ago India had won a Test in Australia in Perth on their 2007-08 tour.
