I am the Congress, Rahul Gandhi responds after Muslim party remark

At a time when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has upped the ante against Congress president Rahul Gandhi by accusing him of Muslim appeasement, the Congress chief has defined what he and his party stands for.

In a post on his Twitter handle, Rahul on Tuesday, claimed that he stands for the last person in the line-the marginalised and the persecuted.

“I stand with the last person in the line. The exploited, marginalised and the persecuted,” he said.

Rebutting the BJP’s allegations of religious and caste-base appeasement by the Congress to garner votes, Rahul claimed that religion and caste “mean little” to him.

“Their [people’s] religion, caste or beliefs matter little to me. I seek out those in pain and embrace them. I erase hatred and fear. I love all living beings,” he said in his tweet.

The Congress chief then went on to say that he is what the Congress is by saying, “I am the Congress.”
