Hot on the heels of the announcement of the Apple Watch 3, Huawei has launched the Huawei Watch 2 in India at a starting price of Rs 20,999.
The Watch 2 is IP68 dust and water resistant and comes with a round 1.2-inch face and interchangeable bands. The defining feature of the watch is 4G LTE support which allows it used to send texts, take calls and more without needing to be tethered to a smartphone.
The Huawei Watch 2 has been launched in three variants – Sports (Bluetooth) for Rs 20,999, Classic (Bluetooth) for Rs 25,999 and the Sports(4G) variant for Rs 29,999. while the Sports (Bluetooth) variant will be available exclusively via Amazon India, the other two models will also be available via offline retails stores across the country. All three versions will be only available in Black. Additional interchangeable color bands will be announced later this year.
The Huawei Watch 2 runs on the latest version of Android Wear (2.0) and comes in two models. The Classic model comes with a metal chassis and features a hybrid leather band which has leather on top and jointed rubber on the bottom. The Sports variant on the other hand has a far sportier design. LTE is exclusive to the Sports variant.
The Watch 2 comes with a 420mAh battery with a new low power ‘watch mode’ which allows the watch to last for 25 days whilst being able to tell the time and count steps. The watch is powered by the Snapdragon 2100 processor with 4GB of on board storage, out of which only 2.3GB of available for the user. It comes with NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a heart rate sensor.
