A taxi driver in the Capital has been accused of raping a female puppy, which later bled to death. An animal lover claimed that 34-year-old Naresh Kumar from the city’s Narayana area had boasted about the incident before him and also led him to the carcass.
A post-mortem report confirmed rape and death due to excessive bleeding from private parts as well as shock.
Mail Today spoke to Naresh’s wife who said he was a pervert and also tortured her. The father of two daughters allegedly broke her arm on Wednesday evening.
ANIMAL CRUELTY CASES ON THE RISE
Experts say attacks as well as cases of cruelty against canines are on the rise in the country. A chilling CCTV footage emerged this month, showing a group of men savagely pummelling a stray dog to death with bricks in a south Delhi alley and then stealing the carcass. Two of the accused were arrested and they claimed to have eaten the animal.
Similarly, a psychopath, Nakul Mishra, was found stabbing dogs to death at the Green Park Metro Station in Delhi, and an unemployed Dwarka resident chopped off the hind legs of a puppy with a hacksaw when it scratched him last year. In October 2016, Hyderabad police arrested a man for killing and raping a female dog.
Activists say the cops are trying to dilute the Narayana case and the accused is out consuming alcohol, roaming free.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED
The alleged incident took place on August 25, when Naresh, who is a driver with a private cab agency, under the influence of alcohol grabbed the puppy named Jenney by locals. He purportedly raped the dog and left it bleeding, later confessing to the animal lover and a few neighbours.
With the help of his elder brother, Suresh, he arranged a jute bag. He stuffed the puppy into it, walked about two kilometres and reached Naraina Industrial area. For more than 15 minutes, they searched for a place to leave the bag. They finally chucked it into a dry drain next to a garbage dumping site.
Animal lover Abhishek Kumar who stays in the same colony noticed in the evening that the puppy was missing. A search led locals to an inebriated Naresh. The neighbours asked the cabbie about the puppy and he allegedly told them that he had dumped it in Naraina Industrial area after having sex with it.
Locals say he showed them the jute bag lying in the drain and then ran away. Abhishek rushed the puppy to Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre where doctors declared it dead.
INVESTIGATION DONE SO FAR
A call was made to the police control room and a team reached the hospital. “I told the police about the confessions made by Naresh and I have filed a complaint at Naraina police station. Based on the complaint, the post-mortem was conducted at Sanjay Gandhi hospital,” Abhishek told Mail Today.
Doctors submitted the autopsy report to cops on August 26. Despite several attempts, police officials refused to show the post-mortem report to this reporter or the complainant. Speaking to Mail Today, Dr Deleep Suri at Sanjay Gandhi hospital said that the postmortem report had clearly mentioned excessive bleeding from its private parts and the shock of the act as cause of death.
Even after four days of receiving the complaint and the postmortem report, cops had not converted it into an FIR until the complainant met senior officials.
“A few hours after approaching the seniors, the FIR was registered on Tuesday night under Section 429 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,” said Abhishek. He added that despite confirmation in the autopsy report, Section 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC has not been added in the FIR.
